DESCENDANTS OF ANN GREAVES AND JOHN LEEDS OF EAST TUDDENHAM, NORFOLK, ENGLAND

 

 

GENERATION 1

 

Ann Greaves (1) was born in 1760 in East Tuddenham, Norfolk, England.  She married John Leeds, son of John Leeds and Hannah Wells.  He was born in 1756 in Mattishall Burgh, Norfolk.  (Mattishall Burgh is about 2 miles west of East Tuddenham, and about 5 or 6 miles southwest from Weston Longville.)  (R‑1)

+2.   Ann Leeds, b. 1792, m. Daniel Richmond, 3 Dec. 1816, d. 10 Feb. 1863.

    3.  James Leeds, b. 1801.  In the 1841 census for Weston Longville, Norfolk, he was an agricultural laborer, and a lodger with his sister Ann and her husband Daniel Richmond.

 

 

GENERATION 2

 

CHILDREN OF ANN GREAVES (1) AND JOHN LEEDS

Ann Leeds (2) was born in 1792 and died 10 Feb. 1863, both in Weston Longville, Norfolk[1].  (Weston Longville is about 4 miles north of East Tuddenham.)  She married Daniel Richmond, son of William Richmond and Ann Dunnell, on 3 Dec. 1816 in Weston Longville, Norfolk.  He was baptized 29 Jan. 1791 and died 10 July 1871, both in Weston Longville.  They were in the 1841 and 1861 censuses for Weston Longville, Norfolk.  He was an agricultural laborer.  All their children were born in Weston Longville.  (R‑1)

CHILDREN OF ANN LEEDS (2) AND DANIEL RICHMOND

Daniel Richmond (4) was born in 1821 and died 23 Jan. 1885, both in Weston Longville, Norfolk.  He married Mary Clements.  She was born in 1827 in Salle, Norfolk, and died 8 Aug. 1891, both in Weston Longville[2].  All their children were born in Weston Longville.  (R‑1)

    8.      Daniel Richmond, b. 1852, m. Harriet Cossey, 1876 (St. Faith, Norfolk), d. 22 March 1931.  She was b. 1858, and d. 22 Feb. 1931 in Weston Longville, Norfolk.

+9.      William Richmond, b. 22 July 1858, m. Ellen Hunt, 1884, d. 21 Feb. 1922.

+10.   James Richmond, b. 27 Jan. 1862, m(1) Pleasance Elizabeth Weston, 1889, m(2) Maud Grey, 25 Oct. 1897, d. 11 Dec. 1942.

    11.   Emily Richmond, b. 1865.  In 1891 she was a domestic servant in Weston Longville, Norfolk.

    12.   Emma Richmond, b. 1867, d. 1873 (Weston Longville, Norfolk).

    13.   Edward Richmond, b. 1870.  In 1891 he was an agricultural laborer.

 

Edward Richmond (5) was born in 1823 and died 16 Feb. 1895, both in Weston Longville, Norfolk.  He married Sarah Waites, daughter of William Waites and Charlotte Andrews, in 1854 in Norwich, Norfolk.  She was born in 1825 in Colton, Norfolk, and died 22 March 1902 in Weston Longville, Norfolk[3].  In 1851 he was an agricultural laborer in Weston Longville.  In 1871 he was a carrier and farmer of 13 acres in Weston Longville.  In 1881 he was a farmer of 21 acres in Weston Longville.  (R‑1)

Thomas Richmond (7) was born 22 Dec. 1827 in Weston, Norfolk, and died in 1900 in St. Faith, Norfolk.  He married Mary Silvester, daughter of Philip Silvester and Maria Hoare, on 27 April 1852 in St. Andrew’s Church, Farlington, Hampshire.  She was baptized 10 Oct. 1831 in Farlington, Hampshire.  He was a gardener for the Deverell family in Farlington, Hampshire in 1851.  He was living in Buriton, Hampshire in 1861.  He was a gardener and bailiff in 1881.  Mary was a servant in 1851.  All their children were born in Buriton, Hampshire.  (R‑1)

William Richmond (9) was born 22 July 1858 and died 21 Feb. 1922, both in Weston Longville, Norfolk.  He married Ellen Hunt in 1884 in St. Faith, Norfolk.  She was born in 1866 in Reepham, Norfolk, and died 11 Nov. 1942 in Weston Longville, Norfolk[4].  All their children were born in Weston Longville except for Nelly born in St. Faith, Norfolk.  (R‑1)

James Richmond (10) was born 27 Jan. 1862 in Weston Longville, Norfolk, died 11 Dec. 1942 in Cringleford, Norfolk, and was buried in Weston Longville.  He was an agricultural laborer in Weston Longville in 1891.  He first married Pleasance Elizabeth Weston, daughter of Ellen Weston, in 1889 in St. Faith, Norfolk.  She was born in 1871 in St. Faith, Norfolk, and died 20 May 1890 in Weston Longville, Norfolk.  He married second Maud Grey on 25 Oct. 1897 in Great Moulton, Norfolk.  She was born in 1873 in Norwich, Norfolk, died in 1961 in Patcham, East Sussex, and was buried in 1961 in Weston Longville, Norfolk.  (R‑1)

Edward Richmond (14) was born in 1856 in Weston Longville, Norfolk.  He married Pamela Harriet Fiddy in 1883 in St. Faith, Norfolk.  She was born in 1863 in Newton St. Faith, Norfolk.  Their first 6 children were born in East Tuddenham, Norfolk, and the seventh in Easton, Norfolk.  (R‑1)

CHILDREN OF THOMAS RICHMOND (7) AND MARY SILVESTER

Ann Marie Richmond (15) was born in 1853 in Buriton, Hampshire.  She married James Hayden Gill, son of John Gill and Eliza Haydon, in 1876 in Petersfield, Hampshire.  He was born in 1853 in Bristol, Somerset.  He was a mechanical draughtsman in Twerton, Somerset, in 1871.  Their first 2 children were born in Kelston, Somerset, and the others in Twerton, Somerset.  (R‑1)

    35.   Eveline Mary Gill, b. 1878, m. Francis William Duquemin, 14 Dec. 1898 (Lambeth, Surrey), d. 27 Nov. 1933 (Guernsey, Channel Islands).  He was b. 1874 and d. 26 Sept. 1941, both in Guernsey, Channel Islands.  He was a mechanical engineer in Kingston upon Thames in 1901.

    36.   John Richmond Gill, b. 1880, m. ‑‑‑‑‑‑, 1910 (Uxbridge, Middlesex).

    38.   Annie Constance Gill, b. 1884.

George Richmond (17) was born 5 April 1856 in Buriton, Hampshire, was christened 3 May 1856 in Buriton, died 12 Aug. 1929 in Reigate, Surrey, and was buried 16 Aug. 1929 in Reigate.  He married Annie Amy Hewett, daughter of Richard Hewett and Matilda Dumsday, on 2 June 1880 in Reigate District, Surrey.  She was born in 1860 in Merstham, Surrey, was christened 16 Sept. 1860 in Merstham, died in Dec. 1932 in Reigate, Surrey, and was buried 29 Dec. 1932 in Reigate.  Their first 2 children were born in Reigate, Surrey, the third in Merstham, Surrey, the fifth in Reigate, and the sixth in Redhill, Surrey.  (R‑1)

    42.   Frederick George Richmond, b. 18 April 1885.  He was an unemployed warehouse porter in Reigate, Surrey in 1911.

+43.   Florence Annie Richmond, b. 8 June 1888, m. Rupert John Ellis, March 1920, d. 30 Nov. 1922.

    44.   Thomas Harold Richmond, b. 15 April 1898, d. 9 April 1899 (Reigate, Surrey).  Bur. 13 April 1899 in Reigate, Surrey.

+45.   Gwendoline Laura Richmond, b. 17 June 1902, m. Charles W. R. Russell, 1919, d. 9 Sept. 1968.

 

Emily Richmond (19) was born 22 Jan. 1860 in Buriton, Hampshire.  She was a needlewoman in Buriton in 1881.  She married Thomas Raymond Gill, son of John Gill and Eliza Haydon, in 1884 in Petersfield, Hampshire.  He was born in 1855 in Bath, Somerset, and died in 1928 in Bath, Somerset.  He was a railway goods clerk in Twerton, Somerset in 1871.  (R‑1)

Mildred Richmond (24) was born in March 1887 in Weston Longville, Norfolk, and died 5 June 1968 in Comox, British Columbia, Canada.  She married George Pratt in 1918.  He was born in 1888 and died in 1961.  (R‑1)

Mary Richmond (27) was born in 1898 in Moulton, Norfolk, and died in 1981 in Solihull, West Midlands.  She married Leslie Mooring.  He was born in 1891 in Willesden, London, and died in 1982 in Solihull, West Midlands.  (R‑1)

CHILDREN OF GEORGE RICHMOND (17) AND ANNIE A. HEWETT

Edith Emily (“Edie”) Richmond (40) was born 9 Oct. 1881, died 23 July 1965, and was buried 29 July 1965, all in Reigate, Surrey.  She was a post office clerk in 1901 and a shopkeeper’s assistant in 1911.  She went to Canada, but returned to England on RMS Saxonia in 1960.  She married Christopher Howe Mursell, son of Henry William Mursell and Adelaide Harriet Howe, on 24 Oct. 1910 in Reigate Surrey.  He was born in 1882 in Portsea, Hampshire, and died 20 Jan. 1943 at 44 Shepherd’s Lane, Dartford, Kent.  He was a grocer shopkeeper in 1911.  He served in the military in 1916 in France and Belgium.  Their first child was born in Thornton Heath, London, the second in Paddington, Middlesex, the third in Chertsey, Surrey, and the last in Richmond, Chertsey, Surrey.  (R‑1)

Gwendoline Laura Richmond (45) was born 17 June 1902, died 9 Sept. 1968, and was buried in Sept. 1968 at St. John’s Church, all in Redhill, Surrey.  She married Charles W. R. Russell in 1919 in Reigate, Surrey.  He was born 8 Oct. 1897, and died in 1975 in Surrey.  They lived at 105 St. John’s Road, Redhill, Surrey.  (R‑1)

Raymond Gill (46) was born in 1885 in Bath, Somerset, and died by drowning in the sea 4 July 1935 in Littlehampton, Sussex.  He married Florence Ann Gilbert Mills, daughter of Ernest James Mills and Amelia Richards, in 1911 in Bath, Somerset.  She was born 13 Oct. 1885 in Bath, Somerset, and died 3 May 1974 in Brighton, East Sussex.  (R‑1)
