William Greaves (1) was born perhaps about 1720.  He married ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  (R‑1)

CHILDREN OF WILLIAM GREAVES (1)

William Greaves (2) was born 11 March 1746 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.  He married Amelia Bullivant, daughter of Thomas Bullivant and Hannah Ward, on 10 Dec. 1786 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  She was born 13 Sept. 1765 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  All their children were born in Sheffield.  (R‑1)

GENERATION 3

 

CHILDREN OF WILLIAM GREAVES (2) AND AMELIA BULLIVANT

Septimus Greaves (8) was born 2 March 1800 and died in the 3rd quarter of 1859, both in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.  He married Elizabeth Beaver on 30 Dec. 1819 in Sheffield.  She was born about 1801 in Yorkshire.  Both their children were born in Sheffield.  They were in the 1841 census for Sheffield, when both Septimus and his son James were scissor makers.  Septimus could not be found in the 1851 census.

It is not absolutely certain that Robert Greaves was a son of Septimus, but they were living next to each other in 1881, and the dates and occupations fit.  (R‑1)

CHILDREN OF SEPTIMUS GREAVES (8) AND ELIZABETH BEAVER

Robert Greaves (11) was born about 1820 in Retford, Nottinghamshire (about 30 miles east of Sheffield, Yorkshire).  He married Sarah ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1820 in Sheffield, and died before the 1881 census.  They were in the 1841 census for Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield, Yorks.  They were in the 1851, 1861, and 1871 censuses for Granville St., Sheffield Park, Sheffield, Yorks.  He was in the 1881 census for Sheffield Park, listed as Graves.  He was a knife cutler.  All their children were born in Sheffield.

Mary Ann Greaves (12) was born about 1822 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.  She married John Wilkinson, son of Thomas Wilkinson, on 23 Feb. 1840 in Sheffield.  He was born about 1821 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  All their children were born in Sheffield.  (R‑1)

James Greaves (13) was born about 1824 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  He married Emma ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1829 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire (about 7 miles northeast of Sheffield).  They were in the 1851 census for Sheffield Park, Sheffield, Yorkshire.  They were in the 1861 census for Sheffield.  He was in the 1871 census for Sheffield Park, Sheffield, with all his children living with him.  They were in the 1881 census for Sheffield Park.  He was listed as a scissorsmith in 1851, and a scissor forger in 1861, 1871, and 1881.  All their children were born in Sheffield.

CHILDREN OF ROBERT GREAVES (11) AND SARAH ------

Thomas Greaves (16) was born about 1844 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  He married Mary ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1845 in Sheffield.  They were in the 1881 census for Sheffield Park, Sheffield, Yorks., living next to his father and his uncle James Greaves.  They were in the 1891 and 1901 censuses for 95 Granville St., Sheffield Park.  Their last 4 children were still living with them in 1901.  He was a table knife cutler.  All their children were born in Sheffield.

Elizabeth Wilkinson (23) was born about 1839 and died in the 2nd quarter of 1898, both in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  She married William Brady, son of John Brady and Ann ‑‑‑‑‑‑, in the 2nd quarter of 1862.  He was born in Q1 1841 in Ecclesall Bierlow (one of the 6 townships that made up the old parish of Sheffield), Sheffield, Yorkshire, and died in Q1 1879 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  Elizabeth is probably the one who was listed as niece in the household of Thomas and Mary Tyack in the 1861 census for West Sheffield.  All their children were born in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  (R‑1)

Septimus Greaves (26) was born about 1848 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  He married Anna (“Annie”) ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1848 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  They were in the 1871 census for Sheffield, living with his father.  They were in the 1881 census for North Sheffield, Sheffield, Yorks.  They were in the 1891 and 1901 censuses for Heeley, Sheffield, Yorks.  He was a scissor forger.  All their children were born in Sheffield.

CHILDREN OF THOMAS GREAVES (16) AND MARY ------

Frank Greaves (29) was born about 1867 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  He married Louisa (“Louie”) Unwin about 1897.  She was born about 1876 in Sheffield.  They were in the 1901 census for South Sheffield, Yorkshire.  They were in the 1911 census for Sheffield Park, Sheffield, Yorkshire, with his brother-in-law Samuel Unwin living with them, and all of their 3 children were still living.  He was a billiard marker in 1901 and 1911.

Fred Greaves (31) was born about 1876 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.  He married Mary ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1876 in Sheffield.  They were in the 1901 census for Granville St., Sheffield Park, Sheffield, living almost next to his parents.  They were in the 1911 census for 12 Granville Lane, Sheffield Park, Sheffield.  He was a cutler.  All their children were born in Sheffield.

Arthur Brady (39) was born about 1870 in Sheffield, and died in 1942 in City General Hospital, Sheffield.  He married Ada Clark, daughter of George Blundell and Mary Ann Clark, about 1890.  She was born about 1867, and died in 1942 at 295 Maltravers Road, both in Sheffield.  They were in the 1911 census for Sheffield, Yorkshire West Riding, when 5 of their 10 children were still living, and he was a carter.  All their children were born in Sheffield.  (R‑1)

Septimus Greaves (42) was born about 1874 in Claywood Park, Yorkshire.  He married Florence Annie ‑‑‑‑‑‑ in the June quarter 1895..  She was  born about 1876 in Heeley, Sheffield, Yorkshire.  They were in the 1901 census for Heeley, Yorks.  They were in the 1911 census for Ecclesall, Yorkshire West Riding.  He was a labourer in steel wire mills in 1911.  Their first child was born in Park Ward, Sheffield, Yorkshire, and all the others in Heeley, Yorkshire.
