John Graves (1) was born about 1803 or 1805 in Quebec, Canada. He married Margaret Erneau. She was born about 1805 in Quebec, Canada, and died 2 Feb. 1894 in Carleton, Ontario, Canada. (R‑2)

CHILDREN OF JOHN GRAVES (1) AND MARGARET ERNEAU

John B. Graves (2) was born 26 March 1838 in Ottawa-Hull, Ontario, Canada, and died 10 Sept. 1925 in Spring Arbor, Jackson Co., MI, USA. He married Mary Isabella Johnston, called Isabella, daughter of Robert Johnston and Jane Anne McQueen, in 1864. She was born in Pendleton, Ontario, Canada. They were in the 1900 census for St. Charles Twp., Saginaw Co., MI. According to the 1900 census, 4 of their 6 children were living; he was born in French Canada and she was born in English Canada; and he immigrated to the U.S. in 1859 and she in 1867. He was a farmer. Their first child was born in Pendleton, Ontario, and all the others in Michigan. (R‑1)

CHILDREN OF JOHN GRAVES (2) AND MARY I. JOHNSTON

Jane Anne ("Jennie") Graves (3) was born 13 Sept. 1866 in Pendleton, Ontario, Canada, and died 16 July 1947 in Lakeview, Montcalm Co., MI. She married Henry Butler Thompson, son of Charles H. Thompson and Mary G. Morse, on 30 May 1885 in St. Charles, Saginaw Co., MI. He was born 4 July 1855 in Kennebunkport, York Co., ME, and died 28 March 1928 in MI. All their children were born in MI, at least the last 2 in Selby, Oceana Co., MI. (R‑1, R‑2)

William A. Graves (6) was born in July 1872 in MI. He married Grace M. ‑‑‑‑‑‑ about 1893. She was born in Oct. 1877 in MI. They were in the 1900 census for St. Charles Twp., Saginaw Co., MI, living next to his parents. They were also in the 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses for St. Charles Twp., Saginaw Co., MI. He was a farmer in 1900-1920, and a carpenter in a coal mine in 1930. All their children were born in MI.

CHILDREN OF JANE A. GRAVES (3) AND HENRY B. THOMPSON

Henry B. Thompson, Jr. (8) was born 18 July 1890 in MI, and died in 1954 in Fargo, ND. He married Daphne Gates, daughter of William Moor Gates and Sarah E. Kendall, on 2 July 1914 in Benzie Co., MI. She was born 17 Oct. 1890 in MI, and died in Jan. 1975 in Fargo, Cass Co., ND. (R‑2)

20. John Seth Thompson, b. 27 Feb. 1918 (Algonac, St. Clair Co., MI), m. Mary Ellen Pentecost, 30 Dec. 1941 (Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL), d. 3 Nov. 1988 (Fargo, Cass Co., ND). She was b. 15 Feb. 1919 in Gadsden, AL, and d. 3 July 2008 in Maplewood, Ramsey Co., MN, dau. of Frank Pentecost and Minnie Lee McCord. 3 children.

21. Mary Catherine Thompson, b. 2 Aug. 1922, m. Paul Milburn Shippey, d. 17 Dec. 1954 (Detroit, MI). He was b. 6 June 1915 in MS, and d. 6 Dec. 1998 in Chapel Hill, Orange Co., NC, son of Hugh B. Shippey and Edna ‑‑‑‑‑‑.

22. Richard Ceylon Thompson, b. 20 Feb. 1929 (Fargo, ND), m. Peggy Parks Bowie, d. 16 May 1986 (Fargo, ND). She was b. 16 July 1931 in Fayette, KY, and d. 1 Oct. 2009 in Greenville, SC, dau. of Benjamin T. Bowie and Etta Lelone Upton.

CHILDREN OF WILLIAM A. GRAVES (6) AND GRACE M. ------

Arthur W. Graves (11) was born in Aug. 1894 in MI. He first married Nellie ‑‑‑‑‑‑. She was born about 1894 in MI. They were in the 1920 census for New Haven Twp., Shiawassee Co., MI, when he was a farmer. He apparently married second Muriel ‑‑‑‑‑‑. She was born about 1899 in MI. They were in the 1930 census for Saginaw, Saginaw Co., MI, when he had a roofing company, a step-son, Gerald Hill, 13, was living with them. Neither Gerald nor Muriel has been found in the 1920 census.
