GENERATION 1
William Graves (1) was born about
1806 in NY. He married Elizabeth ‑‑‑‑‑‑. She was born about 1807 in NY. They were in the 1850 census for Tecumseh,
Lenawee Co., MI, and in the 1860 census for Franklin, Lenawee Co., MI. He was a farmer. His first 6 children were born in NY and the others in MI.
In the 1850 census, Joel Graves,
76, farmer, born in MA, was living with them.
It is likely that Joel was William’s father, and very possible that this
is the Joel Graves of genealogy 214, some of whose descendants also lived in
Lenawee Co., MI. It is also suspected
that this family may be descended from Thomas Graves of Hartford, CT (genealogy
168), since the name Joel Graves is used in that family, and some of the
descendants lived in Lenawee Co., MI.

1832 in NY. He married Jane ‑‑‑‑‑‑. She was born about 1841 in MI. They were in the 1880 census for Cambridge,
Lenawee Co., MI. He was a farmer. All their children were born in MI. (R‑1)

Charles C. Graves (13) was born 15
May 1868 in Millville, Ingham Co., MI, and died 19 April 1961.[1] He married Clara Alice Burgett, daughter of
Ira Burgett and Cynthia ‑‑‑‑‑‑, about 1898
in southern OR, possibly Grants Pass, OR.
Clara was buried in Grants Pass.
There is no known social security
number for Charles. It is doubtful he
had one. He was self employed most of
his life and ran an illegal moonshine still for years, so filing anything with
the government was probably the last thing he wanted to do. (R‑1)

William Shadrick Vails, d. 1 May 1965 (Yakima, Yakima Co., WA). This is the grandmother of Russell Kroum.
