DESCENDANTS OF JOHN WILKS GRAVES AND FANNIE RICKARDS OF HEREFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND & BROWN CO., IL

GENERATION 1

John Wilks Graves (1) was born about 1814 in England.  He married Fannie Rickards in Herefordshire, England, probably about 1840, since their oldest child was born in 1842.  She was born about 1814 in England.  It is said that John had a brother, James, who also emigrated and lived near Indiana.  Much of the information in this genealogy was taken from a 4-page family history found in an old trunk.  They emigrated from England about 1848-1852, probably about 1851, since they could not be found in either the 1850 U.S. census or the 1851 census in England.  They were in the 1860 census for Lee, Brown Co., IL, and in the 1870 census for Pea Ridge, Brown Co., IL.  He was a farmer.  Their first 3 children were born in England, and the others in IL.  (R‑1)
